We are looking to hear from all users who have worked with X-ray Tomography, regardless of career stage or experience, that are:
- UK based
- 18 years or older
- Academic or Industry users
- and use X-ray Tomography in a non-clinical setting
We have aligned the scope with the previous survey to maintain comparison of responses, and to best serve the community. We focus specifically on X-ray Tomography, but there is opportunity to highlight where you have utilised correlative techniques and modalities including Neutron and Process tomography.All discipline users are in scope from Engineering to Museology, and is inclusive of biological/medical research across fundamental bioscience, ex-vivo and pre-clinical. Clinical imaging is specifically excluded as that community has different hardware, needs and objectives.
How you use X-ray Tomography now, and how you want to use it in the future
This is our first step in understanding the landscape. Acquiring baseline data from users across how they use and access X-ray Tomography hardware, software, infrastructure and skills.
Depending on how widely you use the technique, the survey will take 15-20 minutes. We want to understand how you currently access, use and learnt to use X-ray Tomography infrastructure. This will enable us to describe the current national landscape. Then we want to understand how you want to access, use and learn in the future to define gaps, requirements, and challenges to implementing this.
You do not need to speak for your whole institution. We want to know your personal journey — patterns across hundreds of responses are what we're after.

To mould the survey results into a roadmap, we want to better understand the why behind the results. These town hall meetings allow two way communication between the working group and survey participants so we can hear what is most important to you. This will culminate in identifying and agreeing future needs of our community, and what is required to achieve them.There are two face-to-face sessions where you can hear the survey's early findings, and discuss the detail to ensure you voice is heard and network with your peers.
